The power of music and how it helped me through a difficult time

So if you have been following my blog, you will know that I have experienced a lot of hurt, humiliation and anger because of my husband’s infidelity. I sit here three and a half years later a stronger women, I gave him another chance (again) and I’m happy for it because as we know:

Every dark cloud has a silver lining

Amongst so many things I turned to music to help soothe my soul. When we are hurt, we feel alone, and when we feel alone, we have the profound belief that nobody else out there is feeling what you are feeling. I suppose these feelings are perfectly normal and so when I needed some kind of pick me up, I would turn to music.

Music has a powerful way of helping you see the light when there isn’t one, helps you remember what you have blocked out, it helps you think clearer on certain situations and for me I found that it motivated to get up and try. (Yes, I know, its very dependent on the song you choose, don’t go and rely on a song that will only make you feel worse).

I had one specific song that I listened to when I was felling alone, it made me realize that we are not alone, and that infidelity is, unfortunately for us that get hurt, a very common thing, but that does not mean it is right. It causes unspeakable pain. I chose this song because its words are so strong and so real but most of all, it motivated me, it kept me going, it made me stronger. I also read the lyrics in such a way that in part of the song I was also talking to him……I guess, whatever works for you.

The song is “Try” by Pink.

I am going to put the lyrics down below and you can read them and maybe even listen to the song and see if maybe it could be your song too?

Ever wonder 'bout what he's doing
How it's all turned to lies
Sometimes I think that it's better,
To never ask why

Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns, doesn't mean you're gonna die
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try

Funny how the heart can be deceiving
More than just a couple times
Why do we fall in love so easy
Even when it's not right

Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns, doesn't mean you're gonna die
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try

Ever worry that it might be ruined
And does it make you wanna cry
When you're out there doing what you're doing
Are you just getting by
Tell me are you just getting by, by, by

Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns, doesn't mean you're gonna die
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try

You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try

So there you have it, the song that kept me strong and motivated. choose your music, use to feel, to grieve, to encourage. Find your medium, but most importantly, whatever you decide, “You gotta get up and try”

Just saying……
